Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, released a book titled “Lotha Naga Poetry of the Forefathers” on November 1.
Wokha, November 1 (MExN): The Board of Directors of the Lotha Academy convened a meeting at the Mt Tiyi College conference hall, Wokha on November 1. The meeting was presided over by Fr. Abraham Lotha, Ph.D, President of the Academy.
During the event, Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, MLA, released a book titled “Lotha Naga Poetry of the Forefathers”. The collection, edited by Fr. Abraham Lotha and Nyanthung Stephen, compiles 34 poems contributed by elders from Longsa Village.
Humtsoe also presented a PowerPoint on the Lotha script and numerical system, originally developed by Late Nzio Humtsoe of Sanis Village.
The MLA urged the Academy to form a committee to conduct a comprehensive study of the indigenous script. He emphasised the need to examine its structure and usage, and to explore ways to refine, standardise, and promote it for educational and cultural preservation purposes.
