Dimapur, May 17 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union Diphupar (LSUD) organised a felicitation programme at the Diphupar Lotha Community Ki on May 16 to honour successful achievers from the Lotha community who excelled in the recently declared HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

District Public Relations Officer, Wokha, Lolano Patton, who attended the programme as guest speaker, advised students to use social media and technology wisely, not merely for entertainment but also for learning and personal growth.

She urged students to make informed career decisions, stating that the mismatch between education and market demand has contributed to rising unemployment in Nagaland.

Mentioning that many unemployed Naga youths are graduates and postgraduates, Patton said lack of technical and vocational skills remains one of the reasons for unemployability.

“Earlier, success was limited to only a few professions, but today the digital world and modern technology have opened countless paths,” she said.

She encouraged students to upgrade their skills and explore opportunities in fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Healthcare, Digital Marketing, Nursing, Aviation and Airport Management, and Veterinary Science, which she said are in high demand globally.

Patton also encouraged students to target central government services, stating that they offer greater benefits and opportunities.

She lauded LSUD president Erenbemo O Murry and his team for organising the felicitation programme, saying such gestures inspire and motivate students to strive for greater achievements in future.

Lotha Community Diphupar chairman Zubenthung Patton, on behalf of the community, congratulated the successful students for bringing laurels to the Lotha community in Diphupar.

He advised the students to put God first, respect their parents and elders, and pursue their dreams with dedication and determination without distractions.

President of the Chakesang Students’ Union Diphupar, Vemudozo Tetseo, also congratulated the achievers and acknowledged the Lotha community as one of the forward communities in academics.

He noted that several students from the Lotha community had figured in the top 20 list of the recently declared HSLC examinations and encouraged them to continue uplifting the community in the years ahead.

LSUD president Erenbemo O Murry delivered the presidential address, while Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Diphupar, Rev Limhathung Lotha, invoked God’s blessings.

The framed certificates were handed over to the successful achievers by the guest speaker.

Tumchobemo Ovung spoke on behalf of the successful students, while Longaro W Okhopvui presented a special musical rendition during the programme.

The vote of thanks was proposed by DNSU representative Chonben Odyuo, while Youth Director of LBCD, Jenibemo Kithan, pronounced the benediction.
