LSU reaches agreement on ILP documentation of workers in Wokha

Wokha, September 16 (MExN): The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has reached an agreement with thekedars/contractors, vendors, businesspersons and others engaging non-local workers in Wokha district to ensure that such workers possess the required government-prescribed documents, including valid Inner Line Permits (ILPs).

In a press statement issued on September 16, the LSU said employers and others engaging non-local workers would be responsible for ensuring that workers under their supervision possess the necessary documentation.

The union said concerned persons would be held responsible if any non-local worker was found working without the required documents, adding that it would take action in accordance with its resolutions and established procedures.

The LSU also stated that it would not entertain or extend support to any local person, thekedar, contractor, vendor, businessperson or other individual who knowingly facilitates, shelters or supports non-local workers found without the required documents.

The union appealed to all concerned to cooperate and comply with the applicable requirements to ensure a “proper and responsible system” for the engagement of non-local workers within Wokha district.
