Longleng, May 15 (MExN): The Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU) has reported multiple government offices in Longleng town as “completely inactive” and raised concerns over poor staff attendance, inadequate workforce and absence of senior officials during a three-day surprise inspection from May 12 to 14.
The inspection, aimed at assessing office attendance, functioning, and public service delivery, found several offices non-functional while others operated with minimal staff, stated a DIPR report.
The Union noted that Heads of Departments (HoDs) of most offices were out of station during the inspection, severely hampering administrative work and public service delivery. “The absence of HoDs disrupts office functioning and affects citizens’ welfare,” the LTSU said.
Following the inspection, the students’ body submitted a detailed report to the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, seeking necessary intervention. In its report, the Union urged all inactive government offices to resume regular functioning at the earliest to ensure smooth administrative services for the community.
The LTSU also raised concern over shortage of staff in active offices and appealed to all officers and staff members to remain genuinely present and stationed in their respective offices to responsibly execute their duties.
Reaffirming its commitment to public welfare and transparent governance, the LTSU stated that the inspection drive was carried out in the interest of promoting accountability and efficiency in government institutions in Longleng town.
