Kiphire, May 5 (MExN): The Langzanger Village Student's Union (LVSU) has condemned the alleged assault and attempt to murder of a female student, a bona-fide member of the union, in an incident that occurred on the night of May 1, 2026.
The union identified the accused as Repongli, a resident of Jail ward colony belonging to Kiphire village, who allegedly attacked the victim with intent to cause death.
“Such inhumane and violent behaviour is completely unacceptable in this civilized society and such action must be condemned by every right-thinking citizen,” the LVSU said in a statement issued by President Likhumla T and General Secretary Chumsela Sangtam.
The union stated that the “egregious act of violence” has traumatized the victim and her family mentally, physically, and emotionally.
The LVSU urged all concerned authorities to investigate the case and take stringent action against the perpetrator under relevant provisions of the law to ensure justice is delivered without delay.
“It is essential that the guilty are punished in accordance with the law to prevent such incidents from recurring,” the union added.
The LVSU further expressed solidarity with the victim, prayed for her speedy recovery, and assured all possible support in her recovery and fight for justice.
