M-Fest ‘Good Tidings’ begins in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, December 13 (MExN): The M-Fest (also called Mokokchung Fest) was formally opened by local NPF MLA Toshipokba Longkumer and the first event of the day was the ‘Decorated 2-wheeler Christmas Rally’ which was flagged off by the chief guest.

Mokokchung District Arts and Culture Council (MDACC) members led by the Deputy Commissioner (president of MDACC) and other government officials and public attended the inaugural programme held at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The three day mega event at Mokokchung organized on the theme ‘Good Tidings’ will feature a verities of events like competitions, exhibitions and opening of different stalls selling different goods.

The chief guest Toshipokba Longkumer, while delivering his speech, highly lauded the MDACC for organizing the M-Fest successfully for the fourth year. He expressed hope that is M-Fest would also herald peace in the land and goodwill among the people.

An interesting feature of this year M-Fest is the ‘cultural exchange’ with the objective of fostering harmony among the people cutting across tribes and community. In this regard, cultural troupes and leaders from Assam societies will be attending the M-Fest and participate in the programmes.

With the formal opening of the M-Fest today, the next two days will be marked by song competitions, photo and painting competitions and contest, food stalls, a mela many others, heralding the ‘Good Tidings’ of Christmas and the New Year season in the land.
