DIMAPUR, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Marwaripatti Area Business Association, Dimapur (MABAD), has voiced concern over the deteriorating condition of roads in Marwaripatti locality, which it said continues to be overlooked despite its significant contribution to the city’s economy.

The newly formed association is led by President Zheito Chophy, Advisors OM Prakash Sethi and Bhabhuti Rai GB, Vice Presidents Chhawi Sethi, Sanjay Jain Binaykia and Nawal Kishore, General Secretary (Administration) Khetoi Zhimo, General Secretary (Organization) Naresh Jain, and Secretaries Toma Zhimomi, Nishant Agrawal, Lalit Jain and Rajeev Singh.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Chophy highlighted the poor condition of the main stretch along Marwaripatti Road. He said that for decades, residents of the locality had built and maintained roads such as Jain Temple Road and Jain Bhawan Road through community goodwill, donations and collective effort, but their contributions continued to remain unacknowledged in terms of civic amenities.

“The present deteriorating condition of Marwaripatti’s main road is not merely an inconvenience, it is a stark reminder of prolonged neglect,” he said, adding that the locality, home to hundreds of business families, deserved recognition through durable and well-maintained infrastructure.

MABAD maintained that neglecting such a vital economic hub discouraged investment and undermined the dignity of a community that had fuelled Dimapur’s growth through entrepreneurship, trade and peaceful coexistence. Roads, it said, were not just physical pathways but lifelines of commerce, connectivity and safety.

The association urged the Government of Nagaland, the Urban Development Department and other authorities to take immediate and concrete steps to improve road infrastructure in Marwaripatti, beginning with the main road.  “Marwaripatti seeks not a favour, but its rightful share of development,” MABAD said.
