Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar), on January 19 relinquished command of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), with Major General Harinder Singh Mavi assuming the appointment.
Major General Mavi was commissioned into the 2 JAT Regiment in June 1994. Earlier in his career, he served as a Company Commander in the Assam Rifles in North Sikkim, commanded an infantry battalion in Jammu, and later led a Mountain Brigade at Binnaguri.
He is a postgraduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and has also attended the Higher Command Course at the Army War College, Mhow.
The General Officer has vast operational experience, having served extensively in Jammu and Kashmir and the North East.
On assuming charge, Major General Mavi extended his warm greetings to the people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and committed himself to their continued progress and wellbeing in close synergy with all Central and State stakeholders, a statement said.
