PUNGLWA, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): Maj Gen Naveen Kumar Nijhawan, YSM, Chief of Staff of Spear Corps and Chairman of the Local Board Administration (LBA), paid a maiden visit to Sainik School Punglwa on October 29.
Upon his arrival, he was received by the Principal, Col (Dr) SmitaMisra.
According to a press release, the General Officer was escorted by the Equestrian Club cadets to the War Memorial where he paid homage by laying a wreath. This was followed by a Guard of Honour, led by Cadet EdemiNuh of Class 10.
Cadets Angela and Akhumvi then familiarised him with the school's infrastructure using a detailed sand model.
During the visit, Maj Gen Nijhawan was briefed on the school's academic activities, UPSC performance, ongoing projects, and overall achievements. He applauded the efforts of the school staff for the holistic growth of the cadets.
The General Officer also inspected the academic block, hostels, project sites, cadet’s mess, and sports fields.
The visit culminated with an interaction with the cadets and staff in the Cadet’s Mess. Addressing the cadets, Maj Gen Nijhawan emphasised the importance of imbibing self-discipline and hard work to achieve success in life. He encouraged the teachers to spend valuable and constructive time with the cadets. The visit provided an opportunity for the General Officer to engage with the school community and share his insights for the institution's further development, the release added.
