Major defection topple Pongkhu-led GPRN/NNC (AB)

Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): In a significant development, the GPRN/NNC (AB) council of Kilonsers, army wings, and secretaries announced its decision to dissolve its faction under the leadership of SS Pongkhu Yimkhiung and merge enmasse with the original party, the GPRN/NNC (AB), led by Francis Kikon.

The decision was taken during an emergency meeting held on August 20, stated a press release from the MIP, GPRN/NNC (AB).

The council resolved to terminate SS Pongkhu Yimkhiung from the post of President and Alo Yimkhiung from the post of acting army chief “on moral grounds, corruption and arbitrary action.”

The charges against the leaders include appointing a general secretary without any meeting or consultation with the council of Kilonsers and Tatars, and running the government in a “dictatorial manner” and putting “personal interest above the national cause.”
