Manipur clinch NECDC U-19 title with dominant win over Mizoram

Chümoukedima, April 12 (MExN): Manipur defeated Mizoram by 72 runs to clinch the title in the fourth NECDC Inter-State Friendship Cup Men’s Under-19 2026 final at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima on April 11.

A composed batting effort followed by a disciplined bowling performance helped Manipur register a convincing victory. Opting to field after winning the toss, Mizoram restricted Manipur to 233 all out in 49.5 overs.

Lucky Thockchom anchored the innings with a well-crafted 72 off 82 balls, while Robinson Sougaijam contributed a steady 62 off 122 deliveries to provide stability in the middle overs.

For Mizoram, Henry Lallawmzuala was the standout bowler, returning figures of 4 for 35 in 9.5 overs.

Chasing a target of 234, Mizoram struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 161 runs in 43.1 overs. Lalramluahpuia Zote top-scored with a fighting 62 off 59 balls but lacked support from the other end.

Manipur’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Yumnam Chingkheinganba (2/21), Mutual Swabhiman Singh (2/33) and Naeesh (2/24) delivering disciplined spells. Lucky Thockchom was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.

Naesh Hussain of Manipur was adjudged Player of the Tournament, while Max Warokpam Meitei (Manipur) was named Best Batter.

Henry Lallawmzuala (Mizoram) received the Best Bowler award, and Mohammed Anush (Manipur) was adjudged Best Wicketkeeper.

Manipur emerged champions, with Mizoram finishing as runners-up, capping an eventful edition of the tournament that showcased emerging cricketing talent from the region.
