Manipur logs 4 fresh COVID-19 cases, no death in the past 24 hours

A day after it recorded zero cases, Manipur on Sunday reported four fresh cases of COVID-19.

On Saturday, the state recorded a nil case of COVID-19 for the first time since June 24.

The four fresh cases reported on Sunday pushed the COVID-19 infection tally in the state to 1,39,759 even as the fatality toll remained unchanged at 2,148 since September 5 last.

The fresh cases were detected upon testing of 278 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 1.4%, the latest bulletin of the state health department said.

Two of the fresh cases were reported in Chandel district. One case each also reported in Churachandpur and Imphal East districts, the bulletin said.

The active cases in the state declined to 20 as 11 patients were discharged upon recovery against the four fresh cases. 

The latest recoveries took the recovery tally of the state to 1,37,591 and the recovery rate of the state further improved to 98.45%.

Meanwhile, only 343 people were vaccinated in the ongoing vaccination drive against COVID-19 in the state. These took the doses of the vaccine administered in the state so far to 32,04,518.

Out of 16,37,126 people who took the first dose of the vaccine in the state, so far 13,13,538 of them have received the second dose and 2,53,854 of them received the precautionary dose, the health department added.
