Manipur’s COVID-19 fatalities toll to 144 as five dies in 24 hours

COVID-19 related illnesses claimed five more lives in Manipur, taking the total number of deaths in the state  to 144 on Monday. The number of COVID-19 cases in the state has also risen to 17,424 with the confirmation of 262 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

Manipur is witnessing fatality cases of three to six COVID-19 patients and three-digit increases in the positive cases in the last few weeks.

As per a daily update of the COVID-19 Common Control Room on Monday, of the five death cases reported in the last 24 hours, four were from Imphal East district and one from Imphal West.

The lone victim from Imphal West was a 27-year-old girl, the update showed. 

A total of 262 fresh cases were reported from across the state during testing of 1,944 samples taking the total number of COVID-19 infections in the state to 17,424.

Among them, 4,223 including 292 CAPF personnel are active cases currently being treated at various Covid care facilities across the state. The number of recovery cases rose to 13,057 with the discharge of 200 patients on Monday.

The recovery rate of the state stands at 74.93% on Monday.

A total of 3,39,764 samples have been tested in the state so far, out of which 17,424 tested positive for the viral infection.
