Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality tally rises to 376 with one death in 24 hours

10 fresh positive cases take infection tally to 29,496

Manipur recorded one more COVID-19 related death case in the past 24 hours. With this update the fatality tally in the state has gone up to 376 even as the infection tally rose to 29,496 with 10 new positive cases reported in a span of 24 hours, the Health department said on Sunday.

The 59-year old man who died of the COVID-19 related illness was from Imphal West district. He expired at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital where he was admitted after he was diagnosed with the new coronavirus disease on Friday.

The latest death case that came three days after a five-year-old boy died due to the COVID-19 related disease, the state Health department stated in its daily update report.

Meanwhile, 10 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. Among them, nine fresh cases of the disease are from the general populace and one is an air passenger who arrived at Imphal airport on Sunday.

A total of 45 air passengers who tested today took the total number of passengers subjected to RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) at the airport to 2,874. Of them 51 passengers were diagnosed with the new coronavirus disease.

Three patients were discharged during the same period under report, taking the total number of people recovered from the viral disease in the state to 29,013. 

The active case in the state rose to 107. The recovery rate of the state declined to 98.36%.

Meanwhile, the total number of people who received vaccines against COVID-19 in the state rose to 92,948 476 people inoculated on Saturday. The total number included 31,939 healthcare workers, the Health department added.
