The 12th Annual function of Maple Tree School was held at its premises on December 13 night, showcasing an eclectic mix of music, dance and drama performed by the students.
In her welcome address as the school’s Director, Sashi Imchen noted that the annual event is a culmination of the school’s effort to prioritize performance and arts as part of their curriculum. Arts education is an integral part of developing a student’s character, to help express themselves and their creativity, she said.
In addition, the event also enables the teaching staff and other members to learn more about the importance of team work in an effort to create memorial performances, Imchen observed.
Looking back at their 14 year journey as an educational institution, she mentioned that the school has so far been able to produce six batches of Grade 12 students passing out from its gates. “It is their success outside of the school and the bond they maintain which reinforces our belief that we are moving in the right direction,” she added.
Envisioning Maple Tree School to be an institution centered on the culture of learning and growth not just for the students but for teachers and educators as well, she maintained that they remain committed towards the core principles of “Integrity, respect, responsibility, commitment and opportunity.”
As their vision to be recognized as a national school of excellence, their primary goal and mission is to prepare students to become productive and contributing citizens of the State, she said.
The opening act of the night showcased a live band with singers and a choir from students of Grade 8 to 12 performing a cover of Guns N Roses’ popular hit single, ‘November Rain.’
This was followed by a dance number dubbed, ‘Colours of Life,’ by students of nursery, LKG & UKG. The other notable performances included, ‘The Button Box- a musical by John Gleadall,’ ‘Language arts presentation- a French soiree,’ and a ‘high school musical.’
