Mass social work on Pungro-Salomi road

KIPHIRE, JANUARY 20 (MExN): Public and villagers of Pungro town, Luthor, Salomi and Penkim villages under Pungro sub-division in Kiphire district on January 14 conducted a mass social work on the Pungro-Salomi road, a 20 km stretch connecting Khongsa, the new EAC headquarter.

Parliamentary secretary for Excise, Economics & Statistics and LM&CP, T Torechu, who represents 60 Kiphre-Pungro assembly seat, also took part in the mass social work, which involved filling up of potholes on the road, clearing mudslides and jungles, to make the 20-km road stretch more motorable. Contractors working in the area including Thepfusatuo Rio, Tarep, Kiumuhan and PWD department also loaned their tipper trucks and JCBs. The parliamentary secretary also provided financial assistance for smooth conduct of the social work.

It may be mentioned the road stretch also connects Thanamir “Apple village”, the base village from where the long trek to Mount Saramati starts.
