DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 20 (MExN): The Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) today brought to light its findings on the functioning of government establishments in Chessore and expressed its disappointment at the “massive discrepancies” detected.
A press release from the CAPF president, Y Kiumukam informed that the forum had initiated a month long tour in September and October covering all the 24 villages that falls under its ambit in a bit to inspect the working of all the prevailing government department and school.
It revealed that in every inspected departments and schools, there were “massive discrepancies.”
The CAPF informed that several offices are in a state of defunct. These include establishments under the SDO (R&B), Veterinary Department, and Agriculture Department. It further informed that the CDPO office in Chessore is functioning through a rented house and the CDPO is residing in Chessore Old Guest House. The CAFP said that the government despite repeated appeals has done nothing to set up the department in the area.
Further, the forum informed that the Chessore Primary Health Centre and Kuthur Primary Health Centre are running devoid of doctors for many years. “This is a matter of great concern as there is no alternative PHC doctors, or for that matter their assistants,” the forum stated. It added that the plight of patients is compounded by the fact that access to the nearest district headquarters in Zunheboto and Tuensang is hindered by the pathetic road condition.
In the education sector, the CAPF informed that almost all educational institutes are facing shortage of teachers, especially with regard to math and science.
Another grievance, the forum pointed out, is the absence of an EAC at Sotokur.
Slamming the department officials for their “lackadaisical attitude” towards the people, the forum demanded that the state government intervene and address these discrepancies immediately.
The CAPF further stated that “dereliction of duty on the part of the defaulting officers and staffs is going beyond the toleration of the forum as it hampers various departmental works which indirectly effects the innocent public with far reaching consequences.”
