MCCI urged to continue supply of essential goods

Mokokchung, June 6 (MExN): The All Ward Union Mokokchung Town (AWUM) has commended the MCCI for the wise and timely action of arrangement in bringing goods and other essential commodities from Dimapur for the public of Mokokchung town and its adjoining areas.

AWUM, President, Watimongba Aier and General Secretary, Tinumayang in a press release said that the prompt action of the MCCI shows its sincerity and concern for the people which also weaken and demoralize the proprietors of the neighbouring state and their customs of resorting to bandh of Mariani and Amguri road at every incident.

Meanwhile, the AWUM urges the MCCI to continue to transport the required needs of the public from Dimapur till the Foothill Road is constructed and made pliable for all kinds of vehicles. The AWUM has assured to give all the required help and co-operation to MCCI in this venture.

“The transportation of the essential commodities and other goods from Dimapur with fresh, better quality and reasonable rate fixed by the Mokokchung Municipal Council has impressed the public of Mokokchung town. Also the public are neither concern nor regret for travelling in Mariani and Amguri roads as public are more secure by travelling in their own land without any unnecessary harassment from the neighboring state, etc,” AWUM stated further.

The Union also stated that the decision of the Ao Senden to bandh the Mariani and Amguri roads would give the perpetrators memorable experience. It is reliably learnt that business community in Mariani and Jorhat are losing 2-3 crores per day due to which goods and essential commodities are now selling at unimaginable throw away prices confirming the complete breakdown of the business establishment due to the bandh.

The AWUM once again urges Ao Senden the apex body of the Ao-Naga to continue with the bandh until all legitimate demands are fulfilled. Further, AWUM request the Government of Nagaland and Assam to take up the present issue seriously and constitute a high level enquiry commission to probe the May 24, 2013 incident and due compensation be given to the victims of the unfortunate and unpleasant incident without further delay.
