MCTS new team expected to usher in rapid growth tourism in Mopungchuket

Mopungchuket, March 5 (MExN): The handing over and taking over of the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society (MCTS) was held at the premises of the village morung on March 5.


The new team of MCTS led by Limalenden Longkumer took over the reins of Mopungchuket tourism from the previous team led by Dr Aoyimsen Jamir. Mopungchuket is a major rural tourism destination in the state under Mokokchung district, located 16 kms off the district headquarters.


The new team is comprised of young and dynamic members and is expected to usher in rapid growth of the industry in the village. 


After the change of guard ceremony, the new team of MCTS held a marathon meeting where a number of issues were addressed and plans charted for the promotion of the village’s tourism. MCTS has meanwhile appealed to all the stake holders and the villagers in general to cooperate with MCTS for the benefit of the community. 


MCTS also conveyed that it is open to explore avenues for working together with tour operators and travel agencies. While soliciting feedback from visitors on how to improve the sector, MCTS has also appealed government agencies, NGOs, financial institutions and well-wishers to extend their continued support towards Mopungchuket tourism.


MCTS functions under the authority of the Mopungchuket Senso Mungdang, the village’s apex social organization, and is entrusted with the task of promoting Mopungchuket tourism. MCTS since its inception in the year 2001 have been working for the promotion of Mopungchuket tourism and with the new team of MCTS in charge, tourism in the village is set to gain momentum and boost tourist footfall to shoot up.
