MDFA Trophy: SSS Yellow, Telongjem FC enter quarter finals

MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): Sports Society Soyim (Yellow) registered an emphatic victory over Sungkomen FC that ensured their quarterfinal berth while Telongjem FC juggernaut decimated SSS Blue in their respective matches today. 

SSS Yellow with 4 points in the table needed to win their last group game today to dislodge Young Boys FC who were sitting in second place with 5 points and they did exactly that by smashing five goals between the Sungkomen FC posts in the first half of the match itself. SSS Yellow with the win today qualified for the quarterfinals as second place winners behind Telongjem FC from Pool D. Toshiwapang scored the first goal of the match just 3 minutes into the game for SSS Yellow which was followed by a flurry of four goals by their striker Temjenmeren.

In the second match, SSS Blue were knocked out of the tournament by Pool D leaders Telongjem FC. A surprise SSS Blue win today could have kept them alive in the tournament but that was not to be as Kezhose Mathen single handedly hammered in all four goals of the match for Telongjem FC. SSS Blue will play a dead rubber match against Sungkomen FC on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Telongjem FC will face either NUSU FT or Moanungsang Memorial SC and SSS Yellow will meet Pool C leaders Zonipang SA in the quarter finals.
