MDTA honours Taekwondo team from Mokokchung

Mokokchung, August 11 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Taekwondo Association (MDTA) on August 11has honoured 14 young athletes for their impressive performance at the 36th Kyorugi & 1st Poomsae Nagaland State Taekwondo Championship 2026 -cum- Under-14 Catch Them Young Tournament, held recently in Kohima.

The contingent returned with a total of 14 medals, comprising one gold, five silver, and eight bronze, across various categories. The felicitation programme, held at the MDTA Treasurer’s residence, saw the formal distribution of certificates, medals, and cash incentives to the winners by the Association President, Supongwati Jamir.

In the Kyorugi discipline, Odimeren clinched the sole gold medal for the district. The silver medallists were Temsujung, Ligo Pinggam, Imtisungit, and Amir Das. Bronze medals were secured by Sangtsu, Mongshai, Limatoshi, Thangjemhaubou, Vincent Yanthan, Merentemjen, Tirjung, and Aarush Y Patil. Additionally, Sangtsu added a silver medal to the tally in the Poomsae discipline.

Addressing the gathering, MDTA Executive member Chubameren lauded the team for bringing laurels to the association and the district. He encouraged the young players to aim for greater success and assured them of the association’s continued support in their future endeavours.

The programme was chaired by MDTA General Secretary Nukshi I Ozukum. The Mokokchung team was managed by T. Alila Imchen and Chubatoshi Aier, with Poshung serving as the head coach.
