Tuensang, September 16 (MExN): The district level training for medical officers and supervisors on ‘Measles Catch-Up campaign’ was held on September 15 at the CMO conference hall, Tuensang. The resource persons for the training were Dr. Temsu, Surveillance Medical Officer, WHO and District Immunization Officer (DIO) Mokokchung Dr. Limatula.
The deputy CMO Tuensang Dr. Thanghoi Lam in the beginning of the training stated that the immunization status in the district should be given paramount importance and efforts and dedication on the part of everyone should be given in order to make the campaign a success. The district immunization officer Tuensang Dr. Lanuchuba briefed on the micro-plan to carry out the campaign in the district.
Topics including ‘Rationale for Measles second dose and operational plan’, ‘Special planning issues for schools’, ‘Injection safety and waste disposal’ etc were some of the topics covered during the training. The training was attended by senior medical officers, medical officers of all blocks, block programme managers, district programme manager, DAPCU officials and health workers who will be training health workers in their respective blocks for the upcoming campaign.
The campaign is scheduled to tentatively start on October 10, targeting children in the age group of 9 months to 10 years old.
