PHEK, May 22 (MExN): The District Health Society Phek conducted District Measles Surveillance Workshop today at CMO conference hall Phek. A press release received here informed that Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), chaired the programme and gave a brief introduction on the Measles surveillance workshop.
Dr. Sheila, Surveillance Medical Officer WHO, was the resource person for the workshop. She spoke on the basic Epidemiology of measles and control strategies, measles laboratory diagnosis and collection, storage and shipment of specimen, case management and Vit-A supplementation for measles cases, Role of epidemic response team in outbreak identification and outbreak investigation, data analysis and interpretation calculations. She also deliberated the participants on the update of polio eradication and importance of Acute Flaccid Paralysis surveillance.
Dr. Thinuohezo, District Programme Officer UIP/RCH), and Dr. Neisakho Kere, DPO NVBDCP, spoke on measles surveillance.
