Kohima: In pursuance to Election Commission of India direction contained in letter No. 491/Paid News/LS/2014 dated 5th February 2014, the State Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) is hereby constituted with the following officers.
Chief Electoral Officer as Chairman; Joint Chief Electoral Officer as Member Secretary and other members include Any Observer appointed by the ECI, Director Field Publicity Nagaland Kohima, Director/Joint Director IPR and President Kohima Press Club Kohima.
The Committee shall have the following two major functions besides previewing scrutinizing and verifying all the advertisements by individual contesting candidates or political parties before it is INSERT IGNOREed in the electronic media: Deciding appeal from the District Committee on Certification of advertisement as per the aforesaid Commission order dated 15th April, 2005: and Examination of all cases of Paid News on appeal against the decision of District MCMC or cases that they may take suo motu, in which case it shall direct the concerned ROs to issue notices to the candidates.
This was stated in an Office Memorandum issued by the Election Department, Government of Nagaland.
