Media Facilitation Centre inaugurated at Naga Heritage Village

Kohima, December 1 (MExN): Commissioner and Secretary Orenthung Lotha inaugurated the Media Facilitation Centre (MFC) at the Handloom and Crafts Pavilion, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, on December 1 in the presence of Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Ramnikant, IAS, and officials of the department. The space has been allotted by the Industries and Commerce Department from this year onwards for the functioning of the MFC.

The Centre is set up annually by the Department of IPR during the Hornbill Festival to provide support and facilities to media personnel covering the event. It serves as the primary hub for representatives of the local press, national and international media, including print, digital and electronic platforms.

Equipped with high-speed internet connectivity and workstations, the Centre enables journalists to transmit reports, photographs and video content. Internet connectivity is facilitated through a partnership between DIPR and Symbios. Refreshments including tea, coffee and snacks are made available throughout the day.

The MFC functions as the operational base for national broadcasters such as All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan and media teams from partner states, along with local and independent correspondents and media personnel from outside Nagaland and abroad. The facility brings together a wide section of the media fraternity under one roof, facilitating coordination and coverage.

The Centre is frequently visited by dignitaries and senior government officials including the Chief Minister to interact with the media during the festival.
