Medumnio Festival calls for peaceful co-existence

Shamator, August 10 (DIPR): Medumnio Festival celebrated recently at Shamator underscored the need for peaceful co-existence among people of the area in particular and Nagas in general. All the speakers at function emphasized on the need for peace and brotherhood for development and progress.
Torupkiu who has been serving as Head GB Wapher village for the past 60 years and also oldest person in the region till date stressed on the importance of peaceful co-existence and exhorted the gathering to maintain peace, so that more developmental activities takes place for the welfare of the people. He further said that Medumnio festival ought to be celebrated meaningfully, by inculcating the values of unity, harmony and forgiveness.
Deputy Director IPR, Chubalepzuk who also spoke at the Medumnio festival exhorted the gathering to maintain the cultural values, so that one’s identity is kept intact. He also said that under the able leadership of R. Tohanba, IPR department is witnessing marked improvement by keeping pace with the changes in modern technology.
EAC Shamator K Fürhesie Nyu who spoke on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Tuensang appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in the area. K.M. Kaming President Public Forum Shamator town and Sosang from Shamator village also spoke on the occasion.
