Meeting held to revive Nagaland Press Association

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): A meeting aimed at reviving the Nagaland Press Association (NPA) was held on February 27 at the residence of Geoffrey Yaden, Editor of Nagaland Post.

The meeting was attended by representatives of media houses including Nagaland Post, Tir Yimyim, Eastern Mirror and The Morung Express.

According to a press release issued by the Interim Body, the primary focus of the deliberation was the urgent need to reactivate the NPA in view of the evolving media landscape in the State. The participants discussed the current scenario confronting the press and stressed the need for clarity on government policies affecting the functioning and welfare of individual journalists and media establishments in Nagaland.

Following discussions, the house resolved to constitute an Interim Body to steer the revival process. The following office bearers were unanimously proposed: Aochuba Yaden as Convenor, Raymond Ronamai as Co-Convenor and Akangjungla as Secretary.

The Interim Body has been tasked with compiling a list of working and non-working journalists affiliated with media houses across Nagaland and has sought cooperation from all concerned in this regard. It has also been mandated to convene a general meeting of all stakeholders by the end of March 2026 to formalise the association’s future course of action.
