Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council and the department of New and Renewable Energy held a joint meeting with the GBs and chairmen of all the colonies under the jurisdiction of DMC today at DMC office premises.
Representatives of the department Er. Inaho Awomi, Project Officer and Er. Temsu Ao, JE and DMC advisor Er. Vikholie Nienu apprised the colony leaders on the benefits of using new and renewable energy and the projects to be taken up under Dimapur Solar City Programme. Solar street light, solar water heater, wind energy, biogas are some of the project to be taken up under the programme.
Er. Vikholie said that the people should up the opportunity that the government is providing for the well being of the people living in ever growing cities like Dimapur. He said that he along with consultants visited all the strategic public places and surveyed the areas to come up with a master plan which is expected to be materialized soon.
Solar power plant under the city solar programme is likely to be done in the first half of 2012. Anybody doing farming can apply for biogas and also, any individual can submit application for solar water heater.
