The Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) on Friday conducted a Mega Auction 2026 for the upcoming 2nd edition of Kohima Premier League (KPL) at Hotel Guardian, Kohima Trade Centre, Kohima.
This auction is the first of its kind in the state and conducted by Keviselhou Sekhose as auctioneer.
KDCA president Mengu Sakhrie made a brief introduction and the purpose of the auction.
Four determined franchises-Capital Sixers, Oking Outlaws, Central Hurricanes and Ura Mavericks assembled for the auction.
From the very first name of player called out, it was clear that the 2nd edition would be bigger, bolder and more competitive than ever.
Record-smashing bids
The auction room erupted when Vikato sparked a fierce bidding war that had franchise tables locked in a relentless contest. After a breathtaking exchange of raises, Capital Sixers made a thunderous statement, securing Vikato for a whopping Rs 54,000, the highest bid of the evening.
Not far behind was Vizoletuo, whose all-round brilliance drew aggressive interest before Central Hurricanes clinched the deal at Rs 33,000, reinforcing their intent to dominate the upcoming season.
Capital Sixers returned to the spotlight once more as they fought hard to bring Tapitu into their ranks for Rs 29,000, strengthening what is now shaping up to be a formidable squad.
Meanwhile, Oking Outlaws electrified their supporters by sealing Thupuluzo for Rs 25,000, a strategic buy that could prove to be a season-defining acquisition.
While Ura Mavericks maintained a calculated and composed approach, the night belonged to the bold and the fearless, as teams invested heavily in talent that promises fireworks in the season ahead.
The countdown begins with squads now taking shape and rivalries reignited, the stage is officially set for an explosive 2nd edition.
Meanwhile, KDCA informed that KPL 2nd edition will be staring from February 18 onwards at Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima.
