Meites, Kukis or Nagas, we are  inseparable neighbours: Therie

DIMAPUR, JUN 10 (MExN): Expressing concern over the continuing violence in Manipur, former NPCC president K Therie on Saturday urged upon leaders and thinkers to sit across the table and realign discrepancies if any and protect each other’s interest.

“It may be Meites, Kukis or Nagas, the truth is all are inseparable neighbours. Although it may not be at the cost of inherent rights and future, it is also our responsibility to be positive to each other,” Therie said in a press release.

The former state congress president also pointed out that investigation teams are only to bring criminals to book, they cannot resolve the political issues and therefore, it is the duty of political leaders to rise up together, put heads together to resolve the problem.

Also welcoming the hill’s MLAs for coming forward with proposals for peace, Therie however opined that if a peaceful solution is to be brought about, Chief Minister N Biren Singh must be “stopped from conducting mayhem in Manipur.”

Alleging that Manipur CM was responsible for the loss of nearly 100 lives and the suffering of tens of thousands of civilians for no fault of theirs, Therie said Biren Singh has lost command and respect of all sensible citizens and his continuation will only worsen the situation.
