DIMAPUR, MAY 9 (MExN): The Secretary General of the Socialist Janata Party (SJP) N Mar Longkumer has termed as “unjustified and meaningless propaganda” published on 8th May 2012 regarding merger of Socialist Janata Party (SJP) Nagaland with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) pointing out that this was “totally misleading and serious case of anti party activity and constitutional act against party principle”. A press note from the SJP Secretary General has cautioned the “responsible party leader of NCP to be wise in dealing with the political situation so as to avoid criticism and lose public support and maintain prestige as National Party leaders”.
“In fact those defected self style names given in the local news paper are responsible for misleading the party members and the innocent Naga Citizens in general”, stated the press note while pointing out that despite formation of the party (SJP) in 2009, the party had remained inactive due to the failure and weakness of those “incompetent so called party leaders who does not know the possession where they stand”. “Such self centered and greedy people does not have place to live in the present civilized society. As a leader (s) it is a matter of shame on the part of such irresponsible and aimless people to take the name as leader without knowing the meaning of leadership”.
According to the press note, the emergency meeting which they said was held on 7th May is “unofficial and baseless therefore those names appeared in the paper must be responsible for using the name of the party for their personal benefit”. The party high command takes it is serious case of breach of party constitution, the press note stated. Meanwhile, it was informed that the party high command has appointed N Mar Longkumer, Secretary General (SJP) Nagaland State as “party caretaker and decision making authority” with immediate effect.
Therefore, as empowered by the party central high command, the press note stated that it was suspending “those self style leaders from party membership for the period of six years with immediate effect”.
“Therefore, the faithful and bonafide party members are requested not to be discouraged, rather than giving thanks to God for helping the party in cleaning the garbage in appropriate time also invites visionary young leaders to join the party that SJP will provide platform for those visionary youngsters to demonstrate their ability and lead the people in true spirit”.
It stated that the need of the hour is to bring changes in Naga society and pointing out that the SJP shall extend full support in bringing “peace, equality and liberty of the Naga society and work for full and permanent settlement of Naga political problem”.
