The Naga People’s Front (NPF) of 18th Chozuba Assembly Constituency conducted a ‘Thanksgiving cum Advent Christmas’ programme at the private residence of MLA and CAWD & Taxes, Advisor Kudecho Khamo at Old Minister’s Hill, Kohima on December 18.

Addressing the event, Khamo asserted that the NPF is the oldest regional party in the Northeast region and expressed hope that the political merger of the NDPP with the NPF would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Khamo highlighted that the ‘divine plan is greater than human plans’ and asserted that the merger between the NDPP and NPF was aimed at strengthening the regional party, unifying the Naga people in the backdrop of the yearning for an early solution to the protracted Naga political issue, ensuring a stable government, and bringing development to the state.

He assured the party workers that with the blessings and mandate he received from the people of the constituency, he is working towards fulfilling their aspirations and called for cooperation to work for development and the empowerment of youth and the public.

Khamo called upon the people to dedicate the time between Christmas and New Year as Family Week for prayer and to strategise plans for the New Year and life, making judicious use of the holiday season.

He also maintained that the long-felt need of the people for a bank was addressed with the inauguration of a bank at Chetheba town, which has reduced expenditure to a great extent for people seeking banking services in other towns and places, while expressing optimism for better financial literacy and inclusion.

Highlighting “The Village Fair” held at Phusachodu village and the launching of ‘One Family, One Project; One Family, One Entrepreneur; and One Family, One Prayer Time’ under The Green Village Link (GVL), he emphasised the need to raise and empower the business and entrepreneurial community in society so that they would help the people.

Stressing the importance of prayer and the Bible as the foundation of society, party and government, he implored the people to dedicate any time of the day for prayer time and make it a community-led movement.

Khamo commended the Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for providing a stable government with peace and tranquillity while working for the overall development of the state.

Padma Shri Sano Vamuzo, President, NPF Central Women Wing extended greetings on the occasion and reminded the gathering that God created mankind in His own image with great purpose; however, mankind has fallen from the glory of God.

Expressing concern over the division of Naga society and factionalism, she stated that the people have not fully realised the liberation of mankind by God and urged them to work for unity among the Nagas.

She also highlighted that the NDPP–NPF party merger is aimed at working for the unity of the Nagas and remaining true to the Naga cause of self-determination, adding that politics is not dirty but meant to uphold law and justice.

She implored the people to put full faith in God with sincerity and humility and remain true to the stand of the NPF to bridge the Government of India and the Naga issue through understanding and forgiveness while exhibiting unity.

Christmas message was delivered by Rev Dr Wepre Mero, Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers Hill, Kohima (CBCKMH). He asked the people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour and look beyond short-term worldly things, adding that the true meaning of Christmas is love and that Christmas should fill their lives and homes with love.

The programme was led by Mudonuyi Veswuh, Chaplain.
