The Handshake Concert 2011, organized by Rattle & Hum Music Society in collaboration with Nagaland University, North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) and Tourism Nagaland, Rolling Stone Magazine, was held at Chowdiah Hall Bangalore on the 21st of June 2011.
In its fourth edition, The Handshake Concert is held annually to observe World Music Day and seeks to bring together musicians from Nagaland, the North-East and mainland India on one stage. This year saw an impressive line up of artists such as Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Grammy Award winner), Soulmate, Melodrama (winner NSACS Rock Reach 2010), Divine Connection (winner MTV Desi Beats 2011), Anuradha Pal – Rhythm Queen from Mumbai, Sathya- Chennai, Swarathma – Bangalore, Kenei Chale and Lohe sisters perform to a packed1000 capacity hall.
This non-profit concert was organized under the chairmanship of Prof. K. Kannan – Vice Chancellor Nagaland University and under the Chief Patronage of Khriehu Liezietsu Former Vice Chairman -Kohima Municipal Council. The chief sponsor for the event was MindLogicx, Bangalore. Khriehu Liezietsu and KT Sukhalu were notable sponsors. Event partners included Klas Enterprises, The Heritage, Unitex Inc, Wishing Well Foundation, The People Channel and the Naga Students Union, Bangalore volunteered their services as ground partners.
