MH-10, Kohima lifted the fifteenth edition of the Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2022 second time in a row at Multi-Purpose sports complex, Mokokchung, organized by the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA).

Minister, PWD (Housing & Mechanical), Tongpang Ozukum, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Patron. In his speech he said that volleyball is not a very popular sport in India unlike cricket, football and kabaddi but with the introduction of Khelo India by the Indian government emphasize have been given to all sports.

He also thanked the family members of Late Imchaba for their effort in promoting the sport. He said that the Mokokchung District Sports Council should be strengthened so that the lost glory of Mokokchung will be revived through sport and improve the sports scenario in the district.

I Imkong, son of Late Imchaba in whose memorial the trophy is being organized, was also present at the closing ceremony and gave a brief exhortation where he said that without effort one cannot shine and he further encouraged the young people to come up and be professional in all aspects of life.

Earlier in the day, the two semi-final matches were played between Tuensang District Volleyball Association and MH-10, Kohima where MH-10 won 20/25, 21/25, 17/25 and Vision Volleyball Club Tuensang and Changtongya Volleyball  Association (CVA) where CVA won 22/25/15/25, 13/25 to enter the finals.

In an intense final match, the defending champions CVA could not stand their strong opponent team MH-10. The defending champions were humiliated by MH-10, Kohima who won the trophy and the lifted title by defeating CVA 22/25, 22/25, 25/23. 

Three individual prizes were given: Player of the tournament was awarded to Imliakum of CVA, Best Setter awarded to Limatenzuk of Yimyu while Best Spiker was awarded to Imkongtenzuk of MH-10, Kohima.

18 teams from different districts participated at the 15th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2022. The trophy was played after a hiatus of two years due to the COVID Pandemic.
