Mon, July 18 (DIPR): Mini Agro Processing Unit was inaugurated at Longwa on July 16 by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Dinesh Kumar (IAS). The programme was organised by SASRD (under NAIP) Nagaland University.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest expressed his appreciation for bringing such a project in the remotest place, which will immensely benefit the villagers and bring development. The DC urged all the departments specially the Agri & Allied department to fully cooperate with the ongoing project and also to bring such developmental project in the village through their department. Such projects will help in improving the living standards of the people and also promote tourism in the village. He also encouraged the Village Functionary Body to judiciously utilize the project, which will not only bring development but also educate the villagers.
Prof. M. Alemla Ao, CO-PI briefly highlighted the objective and functions of NAIP (National Agricultural Innovative Project). Alemla said that the main purpose of bringing the project in Longwa was to reach the remotest village in Mon area. Chairman Longwa village gave feedbacks on NAIP.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Prof. M. Alemla Ao and invocation prayer was pronounced by Pastor, Longwa Baptist Church.
Welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Sapu Changkija and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. L. Daiho. Department officials, NGO’s, GB’s and the public attended the inaugural function.
