A private investor has finally taken over the Mini Cement Plant Wazeho in Meluri district since January 2025 and will begin trial operations soon.

This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report 2025-26 of the Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation Limited (NSMDCL), tabled in the 8th Session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly in Kohima on March 10.

The Government of Nagaland decided to modernize and upgrade the 50 TPD Mini Cement Plant to 150 TPD by addition of 100 TPD plant and machinery which was completed and inaugurated in June 27, 2008.

As per the policy of State Government to privatize the Mini Cement Plant, NSMDC has advertised in different national and local papers and different private companies had come forward to take over the plant on lease but had not materialized.

Nevertheless, the process of privatization of the MCP was kept open and a private investor has finally taken over the Mini Cement Plant since January 2025 and will begin trial operations soon, the report stated.

The Corporation is operating the Decorative & Dimensional Stone Plant at Wazeho in Meluri district.

The Unit is involved in quarry development and extraction of limestone blocks.

Using the extracted limestone blocks, the Unit is able to produce & manufacture variety of products like slabs, monoliths, artefacts like stone bench & sofa and various other stone tables and utility items. The Unit is in operation, the report stated.

In response to the increasing demand in and around Wazeho, the Corporation established a small-capacity interlocking brick and hollow block manufacturing unit at Wazeho on a trial basis utilizing locally available raw materials.

The unit has since become operational and has been catering to the local market demand.

Considering the sustained and growing demand for these products, the Corporation has initiated the process of installing a higher-capacity machine to augment production and ensure adequate supply to meet market requirements, the report stated.
