Minister, Advisors mourn demise of Kielu Ndang

Kohima/Dimapur, September 26 (MExN): Nagaland leaders have expressed deep grief over the passing of former MLA N. Kielu Ndang and L. Langto Angh, father of Health and Family Welfare Minister P. Paiwang Konyak.

Late N. Kielu Ndang, who represented Peren Assembly Constituency, was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 1971 and 1974. 

In a condolence message, Power and Parliamentary Affairs Minister K.G. Kenye described him as a “veteran ex-parliamentarian and a tall leader” whose contributions to the Zeliang community and the broader Naga society “shall be cherished for generations to come.”

Advisor for Information & Public Relations, Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, described Late Langto Angh as a respected custodian of the Wancho people’s traditions and heritage. He noted Angh’s leadership reflected traditional authority and a commitment to education, progress, and social transformation. “He was a man of deep Christian faith, who dedicated his life to the service of God and his community, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, integrity, and devotion,” Imchen stated.

MLA and Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election Tovihoto Ayemi also expressed his sorrow, describing Angh as a “humble and upright leader whose legacy will continue to inspire.” Other leaders, including MLA and DPDB Kiphire Chairman C Kipili Sangtam and the National People’s Party (NPP) Nagaland, extended their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed that the Almighty grant them solace to bear the irreparable loss.
