Minister assures support towards development of sports in Nagaland

Kohima, August 25 (MExN): Nagaland’s Youth Resources & Sports Advisor Er Zale Neikha today called on the newly appointed Union Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur at New Delhi.

During the meeting, Neikha has made some fresh sporting proposals for development in the state. He briefed the Union Minister about the progress of five projects sanctioned for the state in 2020, which include Multipurpose Halls at Viswema, Medziphema, Wokha, Badminton Stadium in Longleng and Astroturf Ground in Mon. 

Meanwhile, Neikha informed that after giving a patient hearing, the Union Minister assured of all possible support towards development of sports in Nagaland.    

Earlier, Neikha congratulated Thakur for taking over the sports ministry and for the excellent performance of India at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics while expressing hope that India would achieve greater heights in the sports arena under his leadership.

Extending greetings on behalf of the government and people of the state, he apprised the Union Minister about love for the game of football in the North East region and specially Nagaland.

Lauding the sports ministry for sanctioning Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, KISCE at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima with focus on three disciplines – Archery, Boxing and Wrestling, Neikha expressed hope that Naga youth would be able to shine under the guidance of the Ministry.
