Niuland, January 30 (MExN): Minister of PHED and Cooperation Jacob Zhimomi attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Nitozü Village and its Baptist Church under Aghunaqa Circle in Niuland district on January 30.
During the programme, Zhimomi paid tribute to the pioneers led by the village founder Late Nitozü and said that Niuland district, comprising a total area of 514 square kilometres, was the result of the “sacrifices of earlier leaders who gave their blood, sweat and tears.” He urged the gathering to remember their roots.
He said the Golden Jubilee should not be limited to celebration alone but should also reflect progress in areas such as development, employment and self-reliance. Zhimomi stated that efforts were underway to establish an EAC outpost in Aghunaqa and informed that three police outposts had already been approved by the government.
Referring to the challenges faced by the Aghunaqa area due to its border with Assam and the Disputed Area Belt, Zhimomi said steps were being taken to ensure development and to work towards a lasting solution for the region. He also addressed the youth, stating that there was no shortcut to success and that sustained hard work was necessary to succeed in the present-day world.
On the occasion, Zhimomi unveiled the Golden Jubilee Monolith.
The minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, the Deputy Commissioner of Police of Niuland, the EAC of Aghunaqa, representatives of the Western Sümi Kükami Hoho, Western Sümi frontal organisations, and WSBAK ES Rev Dr Phughoto Sema.
