Minister Tribal Affairs graces Hornbill Festival Day-7

The 7th Day of the Hornbill Festival, the event was graced by Minister of State, Tribal Affairs, Jasvantsinh Bhabor as the chief guest and the chief host was Minister Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Metsubo Jamir and Advisor, Food& Civil Supplies & Legal Meteorology, NSDMA, Pukhai.  

It was stated in a DIPR report that Minister of State, Tribal Affairs speaking on the occasion expressed happiness to be in Nagaland and witnessing the rich cultural heritage of Naga showcasing their dances and songs in a colourful way. He was also happy and proud to let know that Nagaland is a part of India and one of the largest tribals in India. He further said that seeing the rich cultures of India, our Prime Minister, Modi took the initiative in organising the tribal carnival at Delhi in 2016 after achieving 25years of Independence. So far it has been a big platform in showcasing the unity and diversity of different cultures from all over India.  

Lt. Gen Sukhdep Sangwar, Assam Rifles who also spoke as the guest speaker, said that people of Nagaland is very brave, courage, valour, with unique custom, tradition and culture, parallel & non -parallel and fearless. The Naga culture showcase the talents and the roots that they belong, the tradition that they follow, affection and love that they spread through humanity and commitment that every Naga shows towards unity and peace not only to North Eastern but to the entire country.  

During the programme, Chakhesang tribe performed ‘Thebvo Do’ (demonstration on making nettle yarn), ‘Leh-Leh’ (demonstration on sowing) was performed by Khiamniungan tribe and ‘Thsumuthe’ dance was performed by Sangtam tribe. ‘MANGHAPBU CHIA’ (mourning song) was performed by Chang tribe. ‘Sim Lokoila’ is a folk song performed by Kuki tribe.   ‘Jaktongsika’ is a traditional games performed by Gafro tribe. ‘Go-Karthing’ game performed by Ao tribe. ‘Zansingbu Zanglan’ was performed by Konyak while ‘Oohang Moo Menvih-Ei Yahpu’ (a tribute to Hornbill Festival) was performed by Phom tribe.
