After seven-year gap, the Miss Wokha pageant is returning this year with the 2025 Edition scheduled for November 15 in Wokha. The event is being organised by the Lotha Eloe Hoho in collaboration with the Glamorous Event Management Team.

Addressing a press conference, Lotha Eloe Hoho President, Thungbeni Ngullie, said the initiative is more than just a beauty contest, emphasising that it seeks to provide young women with a platform to explore their talents, knowledge and skills. “Beyond beauty, this event will allow participants to showcase their talent, voice out their knowledge and promote our culture and values, while creating awareness and encouraging positive change in society,” she remarked.

Ngullie recalled that the last Miss Wokha was organised in 2017 by the Renchen Women Welfare Society where Grace Ezung was crowned the winner, who continues to hold the title to this day. Since then, no organisation had come forward to host the event owing to financial and logistical challenges. “This year, fortunately, the Glamorous Event Management Team approached the Hoho and we felt it was a good initiative to organise it together,” she added.

Event Director, Thungbeni Kikon, on behalf of the Glamorous Event Management Team, informed that the pageant is open to unmarried indigenous Lotha women between the ages of 18 and 25, with a minimum height requirement of 5’3” (160 cm). She said auditions will be held on September 20 from 10 am onwards at three venues – in Wokha at Zumba Fitness Centre, Tsumang (opposite DC Office) with support from the Lotha Students’ Union; in Kohima at the Lotha Hoho Ki with support from the Kohima Lotha Students’ Union; and in Dimapur, with the date to be announced shortly in collaboration with the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union.

Kikon further highlighted that the winner of Miss Wokha 2025 will receive a direct entry to Miss Nagaland, a provision assured by the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN), which is the main event partner. Other collaborators include YithenYi as media partner and various supporters from within the community.

Outlining the programme schedule, she said the first orientation will be held on October 1 followed by a photoshoot on October 2. A consultative meeting with the Hoho, participants and sponsors is planned for October 18, while an online awareness session will be conducted on October 25 for participants unable to attend in person. Grooming sessions will begin on November 8, including free blood grouping, fitness training and a fellowship designed for participants to share experiences and encourage one another.

Alongside the main crown, subtitles such as Miss Talented, Best Ethnic Wear, Miss Popular, Best Congeniality and Best Catwalk will also be conferred. The organisers extended an invitation to potential sponsors and urged aspiring contestants to take part in the auditions.
