‘Missions must be research and development based’

DIMAPUR, JUNE 24 (MExN): The second conclave of the state government sponsored people centric undertakings - Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED), Nagaland Empowerment of People through Energy Development (NEPeD), Nagaland Bio Resources Mission (NBRM), Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) and Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) was held Friday, June 24. The daylong meet dubbed ‘Mission Conclave – II, was hosted by the NBDA and held at Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, 5th Mile Dimapur.

The objective of the conclave was to chalk out strategies of the different missions, while targeting the growth of entrepreneurship, besides discussing policy matters.    
Principal Secretary & Agriculture Production Commissioner, HK Khulu, who jointly chaired the first session of the day with Norman Putsure, IAS, team leader, NBDA; outlined the objectives of conclave. While stressing on sharing of experiences among the different missions, Khulu objectively asserted that the mandate of the missions must be based on research and development. Since the missions are community based, starting from the grassroots, it must act as facilitators for the expansion and improvement of entrepreneurs. Towards this end, the missions nevertheless, must be responsible enough to function in a transparent manner while delivering their expertise and resources, he said.  Khulu is also the team leader of NEPED.
Presentations aimed at discussing common policies and strategies to be adopted for better implementation of the mission mode programmes were also put forth by the respective mission teams.
