MITE Kohima holds 13th Graduation Day ceremony

KOHIMA, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Model Institute of Teacher Education (MITE), Kohima, held its 13th Graduation Day ceremony on Thursday at the MITE Auditorium, celebrating the achievements of its graduating class.

Dr Kekhriehloulie Yhome, Advisor, School Education and SCERT, Government of Nagaland, graced the occasion as the special guest.

The programme began with an invocation by Pastor Robvü Khrasi of Mao Baptist Church, Kohima, followed by an address from MITE Principal Dr Kate Dandesh Kumar, who congratulated the graduates and commended the faculty for their dedication. He highlighted the transformative power of quality education in fostering critical thinking, empathy, and a lifelong passion for learning.

A special song by third-semester student teachers added to the celebratory atmosphere. Caroline Yepthomi, who secured NU Rank 1, delivered the valedictorian speech, expressing gratitude to the institution and motivating her peers.

In his address, Dr Yhome lauded teaching as a noble profession and praised the institution’s progress from a B.Ed college to a multi-disciplinary institution. He emphasised the need for integrating modern educational practices, including self-declarative assessments, artificial intelligence, vocational education, and early childhood education.

He also underscored the vital role of teachers in shaping future generations and strengthening the state’s human resource base.
