A 33 year-old woman was arrested in Mokokchung on charges of child abuse. The accused was arrested on July 8 following a complaint filed by the Centre Coordinator, CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung that a minor child had been physically abused.
According to the Mokokchung police, the complaint was received late on Wednesday night, immediately after which the victim, an 11 year-old girl, was taken into protective custody. A case was registered at the Women Police Station and the accused, hailing from Assam, was arrested today.
The police were ascertaining whether the victim was employed as a domestic helper or a relation of the accused.
Stating that investigation was on, a Mokokchung police official informed that the child bore bruises on the head and arms and was placed under hospital care.
