Nagaland MLA Tseilhoutuo Rhutso on May 23 launched a medical health check-up and treatment camp at PWD Junction in Kohima.

The camp offered services including blood tests, ultrasound, minor operation theatre procedures, blood pressure and sugar check-ups, free medical consultations and home services for bedridden and elderly patients.

The Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) Nagaland branch also set up a stall at the camp.

Addressing the launching programme, Rhutso, popularly known as Dr Ato, said he had travelled across several districts under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CMMOT) initiative to extend medical services and healthcare facilities to people.

He informed that similar medical camps would also be organised in other wards of Kohima in the coming days.

Speaking at the programme, Tongpang L Jamir said no person should face discrimination on the basis of gender, skin colour or disability and stressed that everyone has the right to live with dignity.

He urged persons with disabilities (PwDs) to obtain the Unique Disability ID (UDID) card to avail benefits under various government schemes.

The UDID project aims to create a national database of persons with disabilities and issue a unique identity card to each beneficiary to ensure transparency, efficiency and ease in delivering government services uniformly across regions.

The initiative also helps track the physical and financial progress of beneficiaries at village, block, district, state and national levels.

General Manager of FPAI Nagaland branch, Vincent Belho, also addressed the gathering. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Michael Neikha.
