KOHIMA, MARCH 21 (MExN): Speaking in assembly today, MLA Chingwang Konyak substantiated the observation expressed by Congress MLA Kongam that most of the administrative officers do not stay in their posting places.
Government servants are not afraid of government, he said and wondered how the government programmes could be implemented if the officers are not available in their places of posting. He also viewed that the government should not be afraid to take action against such officers.
Referring to electrification in the villages, Chingwang expressed concern over the poor power supply, stating that laying of posts without actually bringing power cannot be termed as an achievement.
Also participating in the discussion, MLA C. Apok Jamir suggested that more developmental activities should be focused in the remote areas.
Touching on the curriculum in the education sector, Jamir also pointed out that most of the present curriculums are urban-based where many cannot go with it. We should think rural point of view, he said and strongly demanded that this area be looked seriously.
MLA K. Therie lamented that many departments were irresponsible in obtaining loans from the various financial institutions, and that become liabilities of the finance department.
He suggested that the department concerned should come with sustainable project and ensure that the amounts are invested in income generation areas.
Touching on the financial scenario, MLA Takatiba Masa Ao suggested that more emphasis should be given on revenue generation and at the same time efforts be made to control wasteful and unproductive expenditure in the state.

Referring to Science and Technology, MLA H Chuba Chang stressed on the need to strengthen the Community Information Centre (CIC) that has been established in all the 52 block in the state.
Meanwhile, MLA Rokonicha termed the budget presented on Monday as one sided, saying that the budget was only for few people and not for the masses.
