MMA athletes from Nagaland in GAMMA Asian Championships

Three advances to next round, two lose

Dimapur, August 26 (MExN): The opening ceremony of GAMMA Asian Championships was held in Cholpan Ata, Kyrgyzstan on August 25. Five MMA athletes from Nagaland are participating in the championship, informed an update received here late Thursday. 

Arsenba Ozukum 56.7 kgs division was given a walkover in his opening bout against Amin Shayan of Pakistan in the Quarter-finals and will now be going up against Naorem Dinesh also from India in the semi-finals. Kekhrieneitso Angami 70.3kgs beats Ibnu Ananda of Indonesia via referee stoppage in the quarter-finals. He fights Shammas Latheef also from India in the semi-finals on August 27. Longstukumba Ao 77.1kgs defeated Bektur Mangiev of Kyrgyzstan by verbal tap out to progress into the semi-finals. He will now face Elaman Koldoshev of Kyrgyzstan tomorrow.

Limasunep Imchen 61.2kgs division in a very back and forth fight lost his quarter finals bout against Eldos Uulu Attokur of Kyrgyzstan via split decision. Mairidin Newmai featherweight 65.8kgs division suffered a defeat against Motaz Temeiza of Palestine in the Round of 16 which ended his campaign in the bracket.

According to reports, a total of 32 weight classes will be contested across two disciplines when the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) Asian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championships begin in Kyrgyzstan.
