Mobile menace in Nagaland

With the invention of cell phone, the world is surely becoming a global village. Mobile phone is perhaps the best invention since the electric bulb. But in Nagaland, where you are annoyed and disturbed so often by the rackets these gadget create, it is time we ask ourselves are we using it the right way?

It isn’t the technology that annoys most of us-it’s the people using them. Using a mobile phone doesn’t mean that you have to scream at the top of your lungs to get the message through  to the other end. Speaking in low tune is one thing we really need to learn.

Mobile phone etiquette cannot be implemented unless everyone realizes what he/she is doing. C’mon, nobody wants to hear what you had for lunch or where you are planning to go up next. The second you are left listening to someone talking about their personal life you get annoyed, right?

So why don’t we all make things easier on others and ourselves by trying to be civil at least in public.

Another annoying thing is the way people chat in public places. You can sit in your car and chat as long as you want, but why keep on chatting where there are lots of people around you. It isn’t your money that we are bothered about but the embarrassment we are left with.

When you enter any public places like a restaurant or an office, the best thing to do is put your mobile in silent mode,so that people around you will not be annoyed by your incoming calls. You can still attend thecall but make sure you leave your seat and are atleast 10(ten) feet out of earshot before you take that call.

Choosing the right ringtones and at the same time keeping the volume low is another important thing. Everyone has the right to use whatever ringtones they desire, but why does it have to be so loud? The person setting next to you is more likely to admire your incoming calls if you were to keep the ringer on a low setting.

Here are some suggestions which will prevent others from being annoyed:

1. Keep the volume low

2. Use only vibration in meetings and conference

3. Avoid using irritating ringtones

4. Avoid chatting in public places

5. Always keep personal calls...................personal.

In Nagaland most of the people who really annoyed us with their mobile phone are people who are not well educated. So, it is your duty to set an example by making an effort at controlling your mobile eccentricities. Lets hope that by doing this the environment we live in would become a lot more habitable.
