Kohima, September 23 (MExN): A series of recruitment & selection of Swachhgrahis (Cleanliness Messengers) programme for villages under Kohima district for engagement in planning, implementation and monitoring of SBM (G) was conducted on September 17 and 20 at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima.
Organized by DWSM PHED Kohima, this training was conducted in the run up to the national event “Swachhagrahion Ke Swachhgrahi: Ek Se Anek” Divas scheduled for September 25, 2018 wherein all villages across India will partake in a mass social work.
This mass cleanliness is a part of “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign i.e. “Cleanliness is Service or Service to the people through Cleanliness” Campaign – a Nationwide Campaign which was initiated by Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation (MDWS) Government of India. Swachhata Hi Seva campaign aims to accelerate the momentum of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in the run up to its 4th anniversary which was started in October 2, 2014.
This campaign will also coincide with the commencement of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birthday year celebration with a nationwide campaign. This Campaign aims to re-energise the andolan i.e citizen’s movement and lay down the foundation of personal and community hygiene sustainability. This campaign also aims to reinforce the concept of “Sanitation is everyone’s business.”
