Model United Nations Workshop held at Kohima

KOHIMA, APRIL 24 (MExN): 80 young leaders aged between 15 to 21 years were selected from different districts of Nagaland for a 3 day Model United Nations Workshop from April 22-24 organised by North East India International Model United Nations (NEIMUN).

Model UN is an academic simulation of the United Nations with the aim to train and teach young leaders on international affairs, public speaking, diplomacy, conflict resolutions etc. This Model UN Workshop is a follow up to the NEIMUN Conference held last year in Kohima introducing young leaders to the concept of Model United Nations and how to start Model UN clubs in schools and colleges. NEIMUN will be hosting Model UN Workshops in Churachandpur, Manipur, Guwahati, Shillong, and Dimapur, within the next 4 weeks.

The students also joined the rest of the United Nations community in observing the World Earth Day on the 22nd of April through a signature campaign, writing personal pledges to protect mother earth. One pledge reads “play less games, plant more trees”.

NEIMUN is now recruiting delegates for Indian International Model United Nations, Mumbai, and Harvard Model UN, Hyderabad to be held in August 2014. These conferences are open to students between the ages of 15- 23 years. Interested students can write to northeastindiamun@gmail.com.
